Myanmar is union of many races as many as 135 groups, all of them have their own languages and traditional cultures. The eight major representative groups are the Bamar, the Chin, the Kachin, the Kayah, the Kayin, the Mon, the Rakhine and the Shan. Each of them belongs to one of the three major racial groups: the Monkhmers, the Tibeton Bamars and the Thai Shans. There is also a significant of Chinese and Indians in the country. According to UN estimated in 2010, Myanmar has population about 55 million.

Myanmar, formerly known as Burma (which the British call Burma), Myanmar is situated in South East Asia, which is the largest country in Indo-China Peninsula. Bordered with China, Thailand, Laos, Bangladesh and India. The country covers an area of 676,577 sq km in the shape of a diamond, stretches over 2090 km from north to south and over 925 km east to west. It has a 2832 km long coastline on the Indian Ocean. Over 50 percent of the total land area is covered with forests . |
